How Much of Your Salary Do You Take Home in Pakistan?
Your take-home salary in Pakistan is your gross pay minus income tax, your provident fund contribution, your EOBI share and any other deductions. EOBI is a fixed Rs 407 a month in Islamabad (Rs 430 in Sindh) from July 2026, while provident fund is a percentage your employer sets. This calculator handles PF, EOBI and other deductions.
How to Use This Salary Calculator
- Choose Monthly or Annual and enter your gross salary from your offer letter or payslip.
- Pick your currency (PKR, USD, GBP, EUR, AED or SAR).
- Enter your provident fund deduction as a percentage of gross salary.
- Put EOBI (for example Rs 407) and anything else, such as a loan instalment or health insurance, in Other Deductions.
- Read your net salary and the monthly and annual breakdown.
Income tax is not included here. Work it out with the Pakistan income tax calculator using the current FBR slabs, then add the monthly tax to Other Deductions for a complete figure.
Gross to Net Salary: How It's Calculated
Take-home pay = gross salary โ provident fund โ EOBI โ income tax โ other deductions
Worked Example: Rs 150,000 a Month
| Line on the payslip | Amount (PKR / month) |
|---|---|
| Gross salary | 150,000 |
| Provident fund, 5% of gross | โ 7,500 |
| EOBI employee share (Islamabad, from July 2026) | โ 407 |
| Take-home before income tax | 142,093 |
Income tax is then withheld on top, so check it with the tax calculator and subtract it too.
If Your Provident Fund Is a Percentage of Basic Salary
Many employers take provident fund as a percentage of basic salary, not gross. This calculator applies the percentage to gross, so convert first. Say your basic salary is Rs 100,000 inside a Rs 150,000 gross and PF is 10% of basic (Rs 10,000). Enter 10,000 รท 150,000 ร 100 = 6.67%. To see how your PF balance and your employer's matching share grow over the years, use the provident fund calculator.
What Is Deducted From Salary in Pakistan?
| Deduction | Who sets it | How it's worked out |
|---|---|---|
| Income tax | FBR, revised each federal budget | Slab rates on annual taxable salary, withheld monthly by your employer |
| Provident fund | Your employer's PF policy | A percentage of basic or gross salary; many employers add a matching share |
| EOBI | Federal law (Employees' Old-Age Benefits Institution) | 1% of the minimum wage for the employee and 5% for the employer, whatever your actual salary |
| Other | You and your employer | Loan instalments, health or life insurance, advances |
Because EOBI is based on the minimum wage, someone earning Rs 500,000 pays the same EOBI as someone on the minimum wage. For how EOBI and provident fund differ at retirement, read EOBI vs provident fund.
When to Use a Take-Home Salary Calculator
- Comparing job offers: two offers with the same gross can leave you with different net pay once PF rates and other deductions are counted.
- Budgeting: plan spending from net pay, not gross. The monthly budget planner starts from the number this calculator gives you.
- Negotiating: know the net figure you need, then work back to the gross to ask for.
- Leaving a job: your final settlement may also include gratuity. Estimate it with the gratuity calculator.
Common Mistakes
- Entering EOBI as a percentage of your full salary. It's a fixed rupee amount, so a percentage overstates it. Put the rupee figure in Other Deductions.
- Forgetting income tax. Once your salary is above the tax-free threshold, tax is withheld every month and can be one of your largest deductions.
- Mixing monthly and annual figures when comparing offers. Convert both to the same basis first.
- Treating provident fund as lost money. It's your savings, plus any employer match, paid back when you leave or retire.
