โ๏ธ Password From Your Text
Type any phrase, sentence, or keywords โ the tool transforms your text into a strong password you can actually remember.
๐ก Password Security Tips
- ๐ Use a different password for every account. Reusing passwords is the #1 cause of account takeovers.
- ๐ Longer is stronger. A 20-character password is exponentially harder to crack than a 10-character one.
- ๐๏ธ Use a password manager (Bitwarden, 1Password) so you never have to remember complex passwords yourself.
- ๐ซ Never include personal info โ birthdays, names, or pet names are guessed first in targeted attacks.
- ๐ฒ Enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on every account that supports it โ it's your second line of defense.
- ๐ Change passwords immediately if a service reports a data breach. Check haveibeenpwned.com regularly.
How Strong Is a Random Password?
A password's strength comes from its length and the number of possible characters. With all four character sets on, each character adds about 6.5 bits of entropy, so a 16-character password has about 104 bits, far beyond what any computer can guess. Pick a length, tick the character types, and copy the password.
Password Length vs Strength
With uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols (89 possible characters), at 10 billion guesses a second to try every combination:
| Length | Entropy | Time to try every combination | Rating in the tool |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 52 bits | about 5 days | Weak |
| 12 | 78 bits | about 958,000 years | Fair |
| 14 | 91 bits | about 8 billion years | Strong |
| 16 | 104 bits | trillions of years | Very Strong |
Length does more than symbols: a 16-character password of letters and numbers only (95 bits) is stronger than a 12-character one with symbols (78 bits). Real attack speeds vary widely, so treat crack times as a comparison, not a promise.
How Long Should a Password Be?
Use at least 15 to 16 characters for important accounts; NIST's 2025 digital identity guidelines set 15 characters as the minimum for a password used on its own. Use 20 or more for a password manager's master password. Most important of all, use a different password for every account, so one leak can't unlock the others.
What the Generator Does
- Truly random: passwords come from your browser's Web Crypto API (crypto.getRandomValues), not a predictable random function.
- Private: everything happens on your device. Passwords aren't sent, stored or logged, and they disappear when you leave the page.
- Options: 6 to 128 characters, any mix of character sets, no look-alike characters (0/O, 1/l/I), or no repeated characters.
- Bulk: create up to 100 passwords at once, for example when setting up test accounts.
Password From Your Text
This mode turns a phrase you know into a password using leet-speak swaps, initials, scrambling, camel case or an acronym. It's easier to remember, but attackers know these patterns, so it's weaker than a fully random password of the same length. For your most important accounts, use the random generator with a password manager.

How to Use the Password Generator
- Set the password length; 16 characters or more is a good default.
- Choose which characters to include: uppercase, lowercase, numbers and symbols.
- Optionally exclude look-alike characters such as 0 and O, or repeats.
- Generate, then copy the password into your password manager. Use Bulk Generate for several at once.
Who Uses the Password Generator?
- New accounts: a unique strong password for every site.
- IT administrators: bulk-generate temporary passwords for new staff.
- Wi-Fi and devices: a long random key for a router or a shared device.
How the Password Generator Saves You Time
Inventing a strong, unique password yourself is slow and people tend to reuse patterns. A random one appears in a click, with its strength estimate.
